I feel like it’s easy to be sedentary in Detroit. This city was designed for cars. Living in London or DC (places where I regularly used public transportation) the ambient amount of exercise just walking is significant. For me, Detroit always required scheduled exercise (since the challenge started I’ve had friends say “lets go to Belle Isle so we can walk” which means drive). People drive to the metropark to bike in serene surroundings. Things are changing here. Detroit is becoming more of a biking city, but I’m old school and that is a difficult idea to wrap my head around.
