Other than bananas and raisins, fruit was rarely seen in my grocery basket. Now, since being enlightened by Kimo, I have given fruit a front seat in my nutrition car. Mangos, bananas, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, pomegranate, lemons, limes, peaches, nectarines red grapes and figs. I had never eaten a fig before the TBF Challenge. Now they are a regular part of my diet.
Fruit is incorporated into every meal of the day, as well as for snacks. My fridge is stocked to the brim with fresh fruit and trips to the grocery store are largely spent in the fresh produce section. Strawberries, blueberries and raspberries with Greek yogurt for breakfast. Orange slices and strawberries added to salads for lunch. Red grapes have replaced my former go-to snacks of pretzels and crackers. Even grilled fruit on skewers (yes, grilled!) as part of dinner. And yes, when it’s time to have a little vanilla ice cream, add a few blueberries and strawberries to it to make it extra tasty.
